Well maintained castle, the views were fantastic. You can drive till the steps and then climb up. Climb isn't very difficult, it took us only 15 mins but not advisable if you have bad knees etc. The castle itself tells a story and it's lovely..
My wife and I had the opportunity to say here over night in the Commanders Turret on our honeymoon. It was as if living a childhood fantasy, in which you felt you owned the castle yourself! After the castle closed for the night, one could wander the castle battlements alone or sit on the small balcony and watch the night close in and the beauty of the Rhine emerge. It made for an excellent spot to enjoy a great bottle of castle wine. The breakfast that was provided was by far the finest we enjoyed in our 3 weeks in Europe, with a wide array of excellent cheeses, meats, jams, and breads. The accommodations were excellent, and extremely clean. The only complaint is the small hike up from the road, but that also helped one feel like you were stepping back in time as you approach the massive portcullis with the crenelated walls looming over. They did have an extremely helpful geared monorail to take up and down your luggage, so you don't have to worry about dragging it up and down the path's switchbacks. This was by far, one of the greatest highlights of our honeymoon trip. P.S. They also have two of the friendliest cats my wife and I have ever met who love nothing more than to get attention and be pet.
