Visit the southern section of the Hampi World Heritage Site to see Hemakuta Hill Temple Complex, home to several shrines predating most other structures within the important archeological locality. While some of the oldest ruins on this hill date back to the 10th century, others were added after the establishment of the Vijayanagara Empire and include fortified walls designed to protect the area from potential invaders. Pay special attention to the monumental sculptures representing Narasimha, an incarnation of Vishnu as a man-lion. In addition to its historical and architectural significance, the hill also serves as an ideal lookout point, providing sweeping views over the ancient capital's bazaar. • This is my favorite part of Hampi. A place where you can sit back and relax gawking the mesmerising beauty of the setting sun. Best time to visit is after 4pm. Very near to Virupaksha Temple. You can get regular buses from Hospet to Virupaksha Temple. Once you get down at the final stop, the hill complex infront of you is the wide and extensive Hemakuta Hills. Calm and serene in the evening. Ingurgitate humongous amount of fresh air and make yourself tranquillized!
  • This is located in Humpi. A must visit place this. At the start you will come across a big statue of Lord Ganesha, which is almost 8-9 feet tall made out of one stone. Also there are other small and big temples of Lord Shiva. It also gives a great view of Virupaksha Temple.
