  This is famous island off Karwar coast. It's shape resembles that of a tortoise, hence the name Kurumgad. Annual fair, Narasimha jatra, attracts many devotees. Otherwise also, many tourists go there. One should be careful if visiting this place during the annual fair. It'll be so damn crowded. Boat is the only mode of transport. Boats don't come very close to the land. People should go into the water almost much above the knees to board the boat. Boats take more than recommended number of people. There will be so much chaos. People try pushing one another to get into the boat. And the policemen simply stand and watch. I had been here on 21st January 2019. It was the same day when a boat capsized around 2:30pm. Around 4:30 pm, when I was waiting to get into a boat, there was so much chaos and the policemen weren't doing anything. Instead, a bunch of them were enjoying on an adventure boat. So, you are responsible for your life and safety if you are going there during the annual fair.
