Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Mandalay is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight. Kick off your visit on the 12th (Tue): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shwezigon Paya, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ananda Temple, then steep yourself in history at Shwesandaw Pagoda, and finally steep yourself in history at Bagan Temples. Getting from Bagan to Luang Prabang by combination of taxi and flight takes about 7 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi, flight, and car; or drive. In March, daytime highs in Luang Prabang are 40°C, while nighttime lows are 21°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) so you can go by car to Vang Vieng.

Lying 150 km (93 mi) from Vientiane en route to Luang Prabang, and perched on the Song River, Vang Vieng attracts eco-tourists for the bizarre limestone hills surrounding the town.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): contemplate the waterfront views at Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon and then identify plant and animal life at Vang Vieng Elephant Sanctuary.

Drive from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) so you can go by car to Vientiane.

The riverside capital of Laos, Vientiane still has a relatively small urban area and a laid-back, relaxed feel to it.
