A good base for exploring the scenic Izu Peninsula, the town of Kawazu-cho, partly set in within a national park, remains well-known for its many hot spring resorts.
On the 22nd (Fri), admire the sheer force of Kawazu Nanadaru Waterfalls, snap pictures at Kawazu Nanadaru Loop Bridge, then admire the sheer force of Joren Waterfall, and finally contemplate the long history of Mt. Amagi Tunnel (Former Amagi Tunnel). On the next day, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryosenji Temple, then steep yourself in history at Perry Road, then meet the residents at Shimoda Aquarium, and finally take in panoramic vistas at Mount Nesugatayama Observatory.

Plan my Kawazu-cho trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport. In February, daytime highs in Kawazu-cho are 11°C, while nighttime lows are 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
