City of a Thousand Trades
Britain's second-largest city, Birmingham was known as the City of a Thousand Trades and the Workshop of the World in the Victorian era.Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Worcester Cathedral and Birdland. Get outdoors at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre and Rutland Water. Venture out of the city with trips to National Trust - Chirk Castle (in Chirk), Cotswolds Distillery (in Stourton) and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (in Wrexham). And it doesn't end there: explore the historical opulence of Kenilworth Castle, look for all kinds of wild species at Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre, appreciate the extensive heritage of Castle Combe Village, and take in nature's colorful creations at Powis Castle and Garden.
