Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Popular historic sites such as Reyniskirkja Church and Rutshellir Cave are in your itinerary. Kids will enjoy Black Sand Beach and Voyages Friendship Statue. Venture out of the city with trips to Kirkjubaejarklaustur (Fjadrargljufur Canyon & Scenic Green Lava Walk) and Seljalandsfoss - Waterfall (in Hella). There's still lots to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Skogafoss, enjoy the sand and surf at Reynisfjara Beach, examine the collection at Skogar Museum, and explore the striking landscape at Dyrhólaey.

On the 18th (Tue), get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, shop like a local with Laugavegur, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Hallgrimskirkja. On the 19th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Iceland, steep yourself in history at Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition, and then get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour.
