Get out of town with these interesting Reykjavik side-trips: Thermal Spas (in Grindavik) and Thingvellir (Thingvellir National Park & Thingvallakirkja church). Spend the 6th (Mon) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. And it doesn't end there: let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour, steep yourself in history at Einar Jonsson Museum (Listasafn Einars Jonssonar), admire the masterpieces at National Museum of Iceland, and examine the collection at Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Reykjavik is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is minus 1 hour. In December, Reykjavik is a bit cooler than Amsterdam - with highs of 2°C and lows of -3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Wed) early enough to drive to Vik.

Vik

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Thu): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Reyniskirkja Church, admire the sheer force of Skogafoss, and then kick back and relax at Black Sand Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 10th (Fri): make a trip to Dyrhólaey and then kick back and relax at Reynisfjara Beach.

You can drive from Reykjavik to Vik in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Reykjavik in December since evenings lows in Vik dip to 1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Fri) so you can go by car to Geysir.
