Paris of the North

Often referred to as "The Paris of the North," Riga offers thriving nightlife and some of the best collections of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Sat): pause for some photo ops at Freedom Monument, then take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Peter's Church, and then wander the streets of Old City Riga (Vecriga).

Sigulda is a town in the Vidzeme Region of Latvia, 53km from the capital city Riga.OverviewSigulda is on a picturesque stretch of the primeval Gauja river valley. Go for a jaunt from Sigulda to Cesis to see Cesis Medieval Castle about 34 minutes away. Spend the 11th (Sun) exploring nature at Gauja National Park. There's much more to do: explore the historical opulence of Turaida Castle, explore the wealth of natural beauty at Cable Car Across Gauja, Head underground at Gutman's Cave, and head outdoors with Sigulda Adventure Park Tarzan.

You can drive from Riga to Sigulda in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In August in Sigulda, expect temperatures between 26°C during the day and 16°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Jurmala.
