Known primarily for its intricate stone carvings, Chennakesava Temple boasts some of the finest monuments of the Hoysala dynasty. Built in the 12th century, the temple stretches out into a complex consisting of several shrines paying homage to different Hindu gods. • Worth spending more than two hours gazing at the beautiful carvings and figurines but best to visit early morning or evening due to heat.

  • Its incredible!! Every single sculpture on the temple walls tell a different tale. It is simply a feast for the eyes to see how the craftsman transformed the plain stones into such captivating artwork. The symmetry of the patterns and the exquisiteness and complexity of the stone carving are just remarkable. To complete this degree of intricate work without the use of any equipment or technology is astounding. The craftsman deserve a hearty bow of respect. 🙏
  • Must visit, easily accessible by govt transport, one should visit to know the rich heritage of our land, beautiful temple, carvings, all are so unique! No two pillars are same. The expressions on the carvings are so beautiful, natural and unparalleled! The detailing given on carvings are just mind blowing. It will be great if you try to know the history and stories about the sites before visiting. Please do not touch or climb on any of those so that it can be preserved well and please maintain cleanliness during your visits :)
