Saint Patrick's Cathedral
The resting place of writer Jonathan Swift, Saint Patrick's Cathedral represents the largest church in Ireland. Over a thousand years old, this imposing Gothic structure features a 43 m (140 ft) tall spire, one of the city's major architectural landmarks. Built in honor of Ireland's patron saint, the building stands next to an old well allegedly used by Saint Patrick to baptize converts to Christianity. Pay the small fee to sightsee inside the historical cathedral, which contains fine examples of medieval stained glass and a 4,000-pipe organ, one of Ireland's largest. Check online for a downloadable audio guide and a schedule of daily services, guided tours, and special events. Put Saint Patrick's Cathedral on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Dublin online tour planner.

My brother and I popped in here on our day trip to Dublin and we absolutely loved it! It's 8 euros to get in but is worth every penny! Although stunning on the outside, it is simply beautiful inside..... more

I visited St. Patrick's Cathedral in April and I don't regret it. If you have the opportunity, take the guided tour which is very interesting. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of my guide but she was passionate and adorable. During the tour, we focus on the main elements of the cathedral without insisting too much on the religious side. For those who want to linger on this aspect, you have the opportunity to go back after the guided tour which is actually quite short.

Great activities for kids, a lot of fun stops, but trying to go around learning a lot is hard. Even their little guide book didn't help. Also, reading the fine print on the gold plates is very difficult for someone with glasses, and probably people without them. Loved the brass drawing station though, great fun.
