One of the most notable structures from 20th century in Latvia, this market has been included in World Heritage List. A must see in Riga, one of the best markets we’ve ever been to. So many interesting thing that you can buy! So many different fermented veggies, smoked fish, cheeses and beautiful flowers. We went early on a Saturday morning, it was very lively. We had different savory and sweet pastries from a couple of bakeries for breakfast.

I wonder if covid has taken its toll on the market. Last time I was here it was bustling with life and it was difficult to move around, just as a market should be. Now it was a lot of closed stalls and very few vendors. You can still get good deals on fish, meat and vegetables, but the vendors are not interested in haggling and making your day anymore… hope they soon get back to how it used to be.
