Satyagraha House
Mahatma Gandhi's former residence, Satyagraha House was designed by German architect Hermann Kallenbach. Once shared by Gandhi and Kallenbach, the house now contains a collection of old photographs and letters exchanged by the two housemates. Look for Gandhi's most memorable quotes, located on wooden plaques and cotton drapes throughout the house. Much of the furniture here is antique, originating from Gandhi's native region in India. It was in a very peaceful green setting and immediately made me feel calm. The accommodation is fairly primitive, in keeping with the time period and the information about Gandhi well set out and easy to assimilate. Lovely photos of his family, friends, work and travels.

It was amazing visiting this house and learning about the adventures of Gandhi and kallenbach. The house is super neat and well thought out!. Good to get a little bit of the history of Joburg as you go through the house.
